Natasha Allergy Research Foundation

The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation is working with The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation to deliver a pioneering mental health and awareness programme for young people living with food allergies.

Making meaningful change

With 1 in 13 children affected and hospital admissions for severe reactions tripling over the past 20 years, food allergies pose serious emotional and social challenges.

Research shows 80% of parents experience significant worry, and nearly half meet the clinical threshold for PTSD symptoms.

This joint initiative will:

  • Address allergy-related anxiety and mental health challenges
  • Provide practical resources for young people and families
  • Raise awareness in schools and communities
  • Support underserved groups during key life transitions

Founded by Nadim and Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBEs after the tragic loss of their daughter Natasha, the Foundation is committed to making food  allergy history through education, research, and advocacy.

For families like Billie Hoque’s, the impact of food allergies is deeply personal. Billie, a mother of three from Luton, has watched her son Jess, now 8, navigate life-threatening reactions and severe anxiety due to his allergy to cow’s milk. From the age of four, Jess dreaded school, felt isolated, and feared that teachers wouldn’t act fast enough in an emergency. Despite Billie’s efforts, his school struggled to grasp the seriousness of his condition, often excluding him from activities or placing him at risk. Billie believes Jess’s experience reflects the reality for thousands of children across the UK—and underscores the urgent need for better education, awareness, and emotional support.
