Surfers Against Sewage

Our longstanding partnership with Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) has mobilised tens of thousands of volunteers across the UK in a shared mission: to tackle plastic pollution and reconnect people with the natural world. Together, we’ve helped create the UK’s biggest ever environmental clean-up movement – and it’s still growing.

Million Mile Clean

Building on this momentum, IFCF has committed to being the Lead Partner of the Million Mile Clean from 2021 to 2026 . This nationwide initiative encourages people to take action locally – cleaning up litter from streets, parks, country lanes, and waterways. It’s not just about environmental impact; it’s about boosting wellbeing, fostering community spirit, and helping people reconnect with the places they live.

In June 2023, Iceland colleagues rolled up their sleeves and carried out their own beach clean, showing how corporate teams can lead by example. Their efforts were captured in a short video – a testament to the power of teamwork and shared purpose.

Plastic Free Awards

IFCF proudly sponsored the UK’s inaugural Plastic Free Awards in November 2019, in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage. The event celebrated outstanding individuals and groups – campaigners, entrepreneurs, volunteers, youth activists, and influencers – leading the charge against plastic pollution.

IFCF has continued its support annually through 2023. Award categories include Best Campaign, Innovation and Design, Media Award, Sporting for Change, and Business Leader.
