Together for Short Lives

The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation (IFCF) works in partnership with Together for Short Lives, the UK’s leading charity for children with serious illnesses, their families, and the professionals who support them.

At the heart of the partnership is the IFCF Moments That Matter Fund, a £170,000 grant programme providing grants of up to £5,000 to families caring for children who need palliative care. The fund offers practical, emotional and financial support, helping families create precious memories together through experiences, days out and short breaks tailored to their individual needs.

For families caring for a child with a serious illness, everyday life can often be centred around treatment, hospital appointments and complex care needs. The Moments That Matter Fund helps ease some of the financial pressures families face, giving them the opportunity to focus on what matters most: spending quality time together and creating lasting memories with loved ones.

Together for Short Lives exists to ensure every family can make the most of every moment, from diagnosis and treatment through bereavement and beyond. Alongside supporting families directly, the charity raises vital funds for the UK’s 52 children’s hospices and champions children’s palliative care services across the country.

Through the IFCF Moments That Matter Fund and ongoing partnership activity, the Foundation is helping families create cherished memories together while contributing to the important impact Together for Short Lives has made, and continues to make, for children with serious illnesses and their loved ones.

Seeing the Impact First-Hand at Claire House Children's Hospice

As part of the partnership, representatives from the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, including Paul Dhaliwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Iceland Foods and Trustee of the Foundation, and IFCF Ambassador Sian Dhaliwal, visited Claire House Children’s Hospice to see first-hand the incredible support children’s hospices provide to families facing the most difficult circumstances. The visit highlighted the life-changing impact of hospice care, and the important role Together for Short Lives plays in supporting families across the UK.

“For families caring for a child with a serious illness, opportunities to spend quality time together can be limited by the very real practical and financial challenges they face every day. The cost of travel, accessible accommodation and specialist equipment can put precious experiences beyond reach.

Through this extraordinary partnership, families will be able to choose where, when and how they create cherished memories, whether on a day trip, a short break or a long-dreamed-of holiday by the sea.

This wonderful fund is a testament to the family values that define the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation. We are hugely grateful to Tarsem, Paul, and everyone at IFCF for their generosity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping families make memories that will last a lifetime.”
